After disassembly, I decided I was going to polish all the aluminum parts. A simple drill wasn't going to cut it, so I bought a 1HP pedestal mounted buffing machine and a ton of buffing wheels, and polishing/sanding compounds.
If you've never used one of these things, a few 'warnings'. You'll be amazed at how far and how hard parts will be thrown from your hands if you're not careful. Parts will get VERY hot if you try to rush things. Lastly, polishing compounds, dust and pieces of buffing wheels go EVERYWHERE and you will get absolutely FILTHY!
