This is typical of the "quality" installation of the doors in this place. Thankfully the "carpenter" who did this didn't force this screw home too far. I was able to get it out and chase the threads with a tap down the other half of the lockset to save it.
This was discovered after I started to measure for casing. I assumed this door was hung properly because other than a slight rub when closing, it looked like it was actually a decent install. Bad on me for assuming anything.
