I don't know what tube does what except the black one, but this is how the instructions said to do it. If you ever do one of these, mark the tubes about 7/8" from the ends. You'll know the tubes are in far enough when your mark is right next to the port. I didn't get the red tube in quite far enough and made a mess when I first turned on the system.
