Step two. Burn all the paint off the drum. I picked up a weed torch from Harbor Freight and hooked it up to an old LP tank from a BBQ. Took about an hour and 2/3 of that tank to burn all the paint off the outside and get the drum hot enough to burn off the rust inhibitor inside. Basically, I torched it until no more smoke came off. Should be pretty clean.
Step 3 is to start making holes for hardware etc. I've scribed a line around the drum about 4" from the bottom (top in this pic) and I'll drill three equidistant 1" holes for air vents.
