Tada! All fixed and very stout now. I had to kick the striker side over almost an inch to allow the new door jambs to fit and that required a little "massaging" of the plaster to get it flush to the trimmer. The vibrations of the saw caused the chunk at the upper left to pop out (I took that piece off my forehead which dumped a couple metric tons of crap in my left eye even though I was wearing safety glasses.)
Not a big deal as the new door casing is 2 1/2" wide and will cover that right up.
